Dear Orla Gilmartin,

Congratulations - your school has achieved an SFI Discover Science and Maths Award. We have evaluated your Log of Evidence and we are satisfied that you have met all the criteria for the Plaque of STEM.
Your school has provided evidence of children's engagement with STEM in the following areas:
  1. Science
  2. Technology
  3. Engineering
  4. Maths
  5. STEM Showcase
Here is some feedback on your Log of Evidence:

Congratulations to all in Cappataggle N.S. Co. Galway. You have achieved your Plaque of Excellence Award.. Enjoy it and celebrate. It was a challenging year. You presented your work concisely and showed each step unit clearly. Well done for including optional step 5 with your demonstration by the older pupils to the younger ones. We loved your work with plants in Living Things and happily included children's work in their own hand - How gears work. The cycling in safety is very timely. No doubt you have scientists in the making and we hope you all enjoy your journey in STEM. Well done and keep up the good work.

Well done on achieving your Plaque of STEM Award! You have displayed a wide variety of STEM skills including problem solving, group collaboration and have encouraged creativity amongst your students. This is evident from the range of individuality in the projects carried out.

I really enjoyed your demonstration of sustainability through your many environmentally friendly projects such as Micro Plastic Pollution and Caring for Marine Life. Your research into environmentally friendly face masks and lip balms. Designing and making their own beauty products was a fantastic way to further explore the topic! There were many unique activities such as researching how plants drink through the tulip experiment which really stood out. Your in depth involvement in Engineers week was great to see and showcased many more interesting experiments such as the catapults and dropping the eggs - keep up the great work!
