Infants - Ms Egan

Planting in the garden....

This month’s Aistear theme is “Planting”. We have been learning all about what plants need to grow and learned the names of the different parts of the plant. We planted our own sunflower seeds in the classroom and have been very busy in the garden. We planted potatoes, lettuce and peas.

Sunflower seeds... let’s watch them grow

Hurling Fun...

Maths Trail

We went on a Maths trail. We counted the cars in the car park and all the windows on the front of the school. We also counted the flag poles and the sinks in the mud kitchen. We are very good at counting and loved working in our pairs. It was lots of fun!

We love painting....

Aistear- The Clothes Shop

We have been very busy in Aistear this month. Some of us were very busy working in the shop organising, pricing and selling clothes while others were busy browsing and buying new clothes. In the Creative area, we were busy cutting and sticking making our clothes lines . The boys and girls in the “Construction” area built a big town with lots of supermarkets and shops. We learned lots of new words in Irish and loved playing bingo. We even have our own clothes line in the classroom to help us learn the words.

Hedgehogs

Look at our hedgehogs! We rolled out a ball of clay. We used our pincer fingers to make the eyes and the nose. We used match sticks for the spikes and painted them brown!
We had lots of fun learning about hedgehogs this month. We listened to stories and songs about hedgehogs. We loved the story "Don't hog the hedge". We learned lots of interesting facts about hedgehogs. Did you know that a hedgehog weighs about the same as a bag of sugar?

Hello everyone,
Our new Junior Infants are all settling in very well to 'big school' and the Senior Infants are loving having more friends to play and learn with. We have kick started the year with lots of fun and exciting activities. Take a look at what we have been getting up!

Homework will commence in October. Infants will have a homework folder where parents will find a weekly outline of homework every Monday.

Thanking you,
Fiona
