Remote Learning Update
08/01/21
Dear Parents,
For the coming weeks online learning will take place on Seesaw. We have been using this for homework since after mid-term and teachers, students and parents are now familiar with using it.
Teachers will put the work for the day as an announcement on Seesaw. We will try as much as possible to use the children’s textbooks when setting activities to be completed. Completed work can then be uploaded for the class teacher to respond to. As before work for the week will also be put on each class page on the website for the week.
Each class will have a Zoom meeting with their teacher. The link to join the meeting will be sent that morning as an announcement on Seesaw. Please do not share this link with anyone. Zoom can be used on computer, Ipad or Smart Phone. Children should join the meeting with their name and not a nickname. The timetable for these Zoom meetings are as follows:
Ms. Fallon
Monday
1st Class 10am
2nd Class 10.30am
Ms. Mannion
Monday
3rd Class 11am
4th Class 11.30am
Ms. Egan
Tuesday
Juniors 10am
Seniors 10.30am
Mr. Dervan
Friday
5th Class 10am
6th Class 11.00am
If you have more than one child with a particular teacher, they can both join for the same Zoom session, if that suits better. Eg. If you have a child in 1st and a child in 2nd then they can both join the 1st Class Meeting. Attendance is not compulsory.
Children in classes from 1st to 6th can access their spellingsforme accounts and continue with spelling tests and dictation sentences.
NB: Please see and read the Remote Learning Policy below for additional information on Zoom meetings, expectations etc.
Don’t feel under pressure to complete and/or upload work every day- each families home situation is different so do what works for you. If you have any questions or difficulty logging into Seesaw please email and, if we can, we will be happy to help.
Many thanks

Dear parents,
Below is a guide you may find useful which has been supplied by government. It illustrates what to do in a variety of likely Covid 19 related scenarios.
I would sincerely like to thank you all for your support in these opening weeks. The school has been exceptionally calm, and staff and children are enjoying being back in a learning environment.
Do continue to let us know, by phone or email, when your child is absent. It will be helpful to have explained absences if your child goes over the 20 days. Mary is in the office all day Monday and Friday, and from 9am - 12pm Tuesday and Thursday.
A reminder at pick-up that bus children and those cycling will leave first, followed by 5th and 6th, 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th classes. Thank you to parents for practicing social distancing at the gate.
Have a lovely weekend.

Dear parents,
As you know, access to schools this year will be strictly limited to pre-approved visitors only. You will need to make an appointment first and a contact tracing form filled in if you do wish to enter the school building.
We will have a box outside the door for anything which is forgotten and needs to be dropped to school during the day, like lunchboxes. Use the sanitizer, ring the bell and we will pick it up from the box which will be clearly labelled.
We will also have a designated meeting point if you need to collect or drop off your child during the day.
A reminder to Infant parents that for the first few days you may take your child into the playground to join their class. We are keeping a close eye on the weather and hopefully it will improve. If you do wish to enter the playground please wait until 9am to do so. Of course you may also send your child in with an older sibling if you so wish - I'm sure they are all excited to begin!
Otherwise we ask that parents do not enter the playground. I know many of you often give messages to the teachers in the morning but unfortunately for the foreseeable that won't be possible. Please telephone or email us - whichever is most convenient.
Thanks as always for your support,
Shane

Cappataggle Homework Policy for 2020/2021 - Ratified by the Board of Management on 20/08/20

homework_policy.docx | |

File Type: | docx |
Dear Parents, This is the school's Covid 19 Response Plan. It is subject to change as further guidelines are sent out. I will update this page every day next week with specific information that you, as parents, need to know, and also guidelines for your children to follow. Much of it is already in the plan but it will be useful to highlight the important parts.
We have tried to make the return to school as easy as it can possibly be in the circumstances and look forward to welcoming you all back. Book rental (if you are availing of the scheme), art and craft etc. will be collected on the first day back. We will be in touch about the ways you can pay next week.
